(10/29/2008) NEW HAVEN- The New Haven Police are visiting local merchants this evening to warn them about “Mischief Night” and Halloween disruptive behavior and asking them not to sell items to minors that could be used to damage homes and other properties. Specifically, New Haven Police are asking stores throughout the City to refrain from selling: Eggs, Toilet Paper, Shaving Cream, Soap and Lighter Fluid to minors. Officers will be going from store to store this evening handing out flyers containing this information and asking for cooperation from merchants to achieve a safe and enjoyable Halloween. Parents are also asked to keep an eye out to ensure that their children aren’t collecting these materials for what could potentially be dangerous and criminal activity.
